Aerosmith – Rocks Reviews

Rocks

essential recording
They’d soon crash, and hard, thanks to their own excesses. But Rocks captures Aerosmith at a crazily driven peak of creativity; anyone who heard it and continued to dismiss them as mere Stones clones was just being willful. This is blues rock cranked up to ’70s stadium level, the sound of the Trans Am, or maybe the Porsches several of these guys (surprisingly) remember driving. The psychic battering they would succumb to on the next year’s Draw the Line is fores (more…)

    Amazing Vocals
This accurately titled release “Rocks” from the first blood curdling Steven Tyler scream of “Back In the Saddle”.

    AEROSMITH’S PINNACLE
Hands-down best effort ever, more consistent than the previous Toys in the Attic. If you were limited to just one of their albums, this would have to be it, no doubt about it…

Probaly the best Aerosmith album too date
Aerosmith’s 1976 album, “Rocks”, is just one of those albums you dont come by that often. Its one of those albums you can listen too over and over like, “The Beatles Sgt.

10 million Thumbs up! Without a dressing gown, the biggest rock & roll recording of all time. Each owner is everywhere you went there to play. TOYS IN THE ATTIC AEROSMITH placed on the front of the line. It ROCKS superstars. Back in the saddle is the anthem of the 70s generation. Last Child & RATS IN THE CELLER come directly from the same attitude as Alice Cooper's Schools Out. The rest of this CD just smokes big time. SLASH from GUNS & ROSES says this record changed his life, me too! The only other rockin stuff to come in 1976? J. Geils Band / Blow Your Face Off! Live and mahogany RushIV. But nothing with the memories of the rock. The ideal gift. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! JIM PS JAMIN sounds really good with Ted Nugent FREE CD for everyone.

ROCKS ROCKS ! (Aerosmith’s most decadent album moves fast and never lets up)
Ya gotta hand it to Aerosmith’s Rocks (1976). The decadence and debauchery is non-stop, and the Bad Boys from Beantown never even come up for air on this one.

    Aerosmith at their peak
With the complete success of Toys in the Attic behind them, it’s obvious that Aerosmith went into the studio for Rocks with an enormous amount of confidence.

I drooled on the window of the local Record Bar noses against the window and wait for 10 when all the shops in the Mall finally opened. In my fist I gripped a $ 10 Bill. Apart from the glass she wet stocking copies of the new Aerosmith album “Rocks” … the follow-up to “Toys in the Attic.” When the doors opened, I strutted in selected sacred my copy of the new version, and bought it at the bar. With the new record on the passenger seat of my 1970 Ford Maverick, I was sitting on the bike ride home. My first driver's license hardly cool freshly coined by the day before. When I at home, I jumped from the car, from the wadded foil on the front of the place. Through the door of my parent's house, and straight to my bedroom I went. I have the record on my turntable, and sat on the edge of my bed. The sound came from my cheap GE stereo speakers, loud enough offset to sterility. But the testosterone flowed freely as I am fascinated, for the duration of the LP, just out of the daze long enough to put the balance at the end of the page. I too was stoked by words of power of Aerosmith! I took the phone and called my friend Mac. “Have you heard?” Put the phone up to the speakers. I went to my personal phone list, the process must be repeated … “Have you heard?” I could imagine myself dangling receiver off the hook as friends ran out the door with $ 10 bills in their hands. To this day, I rememeber the reverence that swelled up in me, as I proceeded to wear grooves of this record so thin that you could see through the vinyl. 20 years later: Shutting off my bedside lamp, which I for the evening. On my bedside table, a $ 20 Bill. “Tomorrow”, I thought, “it finally on CD.” Yes … This record is so good!

ROCKS is the only AEROSMITH album that matters.
I know AMAZON hates one sentence reviews, but sorry: ROCKS is the only AEROSMITH album that matters. Get me? They peaked here. It ended here.

A Perfect Title To Describe The Music Within
Wow! This album is just incredible, full of hooks & great sounds and dripping with an edgy menace this music feels lived in, there is no posing here.

What WAS I thinking claiming Rocks to be Aerosmith’s masterpiece? The album has too many flaws for any kind of “masterpiece” talk to be thrown around.

Aerosmith was gargantuan at this time. Stadiums. If you were around then, you know that everyone had the first 4 albums. Classics all.

    Pivotal, Peerless, Perfect
Aerosmith, Rocks. This fantastic album, with only one giant FM hit but with tremendous creativity, launched two new genres- an uncommon event. How?
