The Melvins Biography - The Melvins Discography - All Heavy Metal Bands

2009 live two disc (CD/DVD) release. Sleepless Nights and City Lights is the first ever live release from Australia’s most prominent Hardcore/Metalcore act I Killed The Prom Queen. In mid 2007 the band announced they were officially breaking up but promised their Australian fans one last tour. This release is an audio and video souvenir from that tour. The DVD captures the band in front of a rapturous home town crowd at HQ’s in Adelaide tearing through songs from the bands entire career. It also includes in depth interviews with each member discussing their rise, break up and the possibility of a return.

  • “I wish we had spelled ‘Australia’ wrong on the cover. Spelling it right was a mistake.” Buzz responding to what he thought of this live album in MELVINS: Sludge, Jury And Executioner By Christopher R. Weingarten 2005. Gotta love these smarta**es that make such beautiful and frightening sounds. Boris live alone is worth admission. Buzz talks in between a few songs on this album about tellen his momma he was way down in Australia or how they should serve the minors alcohol. This is a rare Melvins treasure worth owning.

  • Don’t get me wrong, the music on this CD is very good. It’s in usual Melvins fashion, heavy and melodic. The thing is, the entire album is less than 22 minutes long. This CD is really for a true Melvins fan. Beginners might want to try something like the “10 songs” album. Or maybe even Honky.
