With songs about Ninja Turtles, Robo-cop quotes and zombies these guys hardly take themselves seriously–but what they do very well is deliver on the thrash. Great riffs, great solos and tongue-in-cheek lyrics are these guys hallmark. Of all the bands of the “thrash revival” persuasion I’ve heard these fellows are by far my favorite. Above all things, these guys can PLAY and that’s what they are here to do, entertain you with a very genre specific style that is fast, catchy, carries a melody and pays homage to the 80’s without being cliche or copycat-ish. Give them a try! Face melting goodness!
Metal Album Reviews[RSS]
Hulk love thrash metal, and Gamma Bomb play thrash metal the way Hulk like. No acoustic intro, no eight-minute instrumental, no clumsy anti-war ballad, or song ask Hulk “cry for the Indians”. (Seriously, Anthrax: you lyrics embarrass Hulk.) Gamma Bomb deliver hundred megaton blast of catchy hook. Even guitar solo memorable, not just flurry of note. Hulk playing air guitar all across desert! Clean vocal, falsetto wail–Hulk die and go to thrash heaven? No, it just Gamma Bomb!
But real surprise? Gamma Bomb lyrics. Clever! Gamma Bomb know thrash metal a little silly (but a lot awesome). Make lyric bombastic on purpose, not bombastic on accident because no know any better. Presume listener knowledge of byways of eighties popular culture. Hulk enjoy allusion to comic book, video game, horror movie. Hulk can’t believe Hulk ears–entire song lyrics quote from ROBOCOP screenplay?!? Thrash metal lyrics usually sound like write by semi-literate teenager. (Again, Hulk talking to you, Anthrax. Hulk love AMONG THE LIVING, but please consider take some class at community college.)
Maybe Gamma Bomb visit desert, play for Hulk? Hulk smash false metal! Hulk love Gamma Bomb!
Contains a spirit and humour that reminds me of old Anthrax. This album is pure fun and great rock and roll.
Crap this is good stuff. Not entirely original, like another reviewer said – they sound ALOT like early Anthrax. But that aint a bad thing. Songs are well produced and played with excellant musicianship.
Lots of humor, especially with songs like Zombie Blood Nightmare and Sentenced to Thrash and Bullet Belt. This is great speed metal/thrash!
If you love Anthrax, Death Angel, Slayer, Testament or Overkill, you’ll love Gama Bomb!
WOW these guys are good it is like 1985 or 86 and thrash was in full swing this stuff will give early Anthrax or Death Angel a run for their money and these guys are way young too so wait till they have 10 years and 4 or 5 albums under their bullet belts
watch out for these guys Smokin Hot Riffs indeed
this stuff would compete with anything done 20 years ago
