  • I owned “The Crucified” self-titled album on cassette, which I purchased back in ‘89 and was thrilled to see that their entire collection is now available. I recently purchased the MP3 download of this collection. I only wish that I had looked closer and realized that this is available as a two CD and one DVD set before purchasing the MP3s. If you are looking at the MP3s, consider buying the hard copies of the music instead because, at the time of writing this review, you’ll get a DVD included.

If you look their albums up on their website, you find that you’re getting the songs from: “KGB” (1985); “Take Up Your Cross” (1986); “Nailed” (1987); “The Crucified” (1989); “LIVE at the New Order” (1989); “The Pillars of Humanity” (1991); “Light from the Underground Vol. I” (1994) – Power Of God & “Songs You’ve Never Heard: Light from the Underground Vol. II” (1995) – Straining Life

As I said in my review of their self-titled album, the thing that I like the most about The Crucified is that their lyrical content doesn’t pull punches. Their songs convey godly messages and they challenge the listener in many ways.

  • All I can say is….WOW!

I have the entire back catalog of The Crucified. Been listening to it for years. The mix was pretty poor, especially for the self titled album. Pillars of Humanity was a beautiful fusion of metal, thrash, and punk but lacked that oomph! of quality to push it over the edge.

Now listening to the remastered and remixed versions of these albums, I can’t even believe it’s the same! Everything is crystal clear – the bass, the drums, Greg Minier’s freakin’ awesome guitar licks….everything!

The Crucified were definitely on the cutting edge of something new when they started. Like I said earlier, they were a bit of punk, a dash of thrash, and a pinch of metal. So if you like that type of music, this is a must have!

  • When I was in high school, the album “The Crucified” was released and it was pure heaven for a kid like me who was not permitted to listen to any of the band’s mainstream contemporaries. What made them awesome was their musical talent – this was one of the first true hardcore/ punk/ thrash bands that claimed Christ and really was hardcore/ punk/ thrash. (The 80s are replete with mediocre artists that were little more than poseurs.)

I love the old material as much today as I did back when I was a kid and nostalgia has nothing to do with it. Makes me want to grab my board and go skate!

  • Todays youth may not realize that music like this was not well accepted in much of the christian community. But this band and a couple others were the pioneers that christian hard rock/metal bands of today owe a lot to today. I had these on cassette and have been waiting for Pillars forever to be rereleased so I didn’t have to pay some ridiculous price to get it used and it’s well worth it. A little hardcore, a lot of thrash, especially on Pillars and just an awesome sound that will have you snapping your neck through the whole album. (not as easy at 41) If you like old school thrash in the vein of Deliverance, (can I say Slayer without anyone getting offended?) Anthrax and some D.R.I. this is speed metal with hooks. Having all the early demos and the DVD is a great bonus and makes this a bargain. Would love to hear more from these guys.
