  • DANGER ZONE, Sammy Hagar’s last studio album on Capitol, is a dry run for the style that he’d perfect a year later on his Geffen debut, STANDING HAMPTON. Adding pop influences to his Ted-Nugent-meets-the-Outlaws sound, he comes up with such great songs as “Bad Reputation”, but can still turn out a hot rocker on “Love Or Money.” There’s other good stuff here, too, even if this album does seem slightly transitional in nature. Hagar’s advocacies of sanctions against Indonesia in retaliation for that country’s trumped-up 2005 drug-smuggling conviction of a young Australian tourist and increased funding for law enforcement/community policing make DANGER ZONE an essential purchase for both your ears AND your conscience.
