Myrath Biography - Myrath Discography - All Heavy Metal Bands

  • Music CD

MYRATH (english meaning Legacy ) is a Technical Melodic Metal band from Tunisia, a small county well known for its resort areas on the Mediterranean coast but certainly not for its metal bands, yet in just a few years what started out as a teenage cover band (formed in early 2001 by guitarist and main song writer Malek Ben Arbia, just 13 years old at the time), Has grown into one of the worlds major contenders in Power Prog Metal and gained much respect by the international prog-power international community with the release of their label debut album (Hope). Ben having graduated from the prestigious French International guitar music academy M.A.I. at such an early age, has aligned himself with a formidable force of young talent. It all really started happening In March 24th 2006 when the band opened for ROBERT PLANT and ADAGIO in Carthage Amphitheater (Tunisia) in front of nearly 7000 Rock/metal fans. Adagio keyboards player Kevin Codfert who watched Myrath performance (and later listened to Myrath first self produced album double face released in March 2005 in Tunisia only) detected the great potential of the band as well as promising composing skills. Myrath recorded in December 2006 their debut album Hope in a low cost studio in Tunis-Tunisia, with the valuable assistance and guidence of Kevin Codfert (Adagio) as engineer and producer. This album was a turning point in Myrath carrier as the band was signed by the French label Brennus -Music who released (Hope) worldwide in September 2007. (Hope) was well received and released by French label Brennus music who released it worldwide in September of 2007, it was praised by the media in numerous album reviews, by well known webzines and magazines (Such as Rock Hard) and was even voted third best album of the year by two major US webzines. As well as album of the week by several major metal radios such as THE MOOVE (France). (Hope) also paved the way for the band to be able to play on well known festivals METAL ROCK FESTIVAL (Norway) and PROGPOWER-EU (Netherlands)

This band is very much up there with all my favorite Prog metal bands , Dream Theater, Symphony X , Pain of Salvation and so on, There first album was a great , heavier than desert call and with there keyboard player singing lead , who does a dam good job!!, so i was a little concerned when I found out that they were getting a new lead singer for this album and they were changing there sound , but I was hooked on it pretty much right away I think they already have found there own sound still metal but with a taste of there country’s music and very melodic, all I can say is 2 great first albums in a row , I don’t think many bands that are in my top 10 list have had there first album hit me like this band’s did. And for them to take the chance and change there sound and still keep my attention is even more thrilling for me.

  • Okay I maybe a little biased, but this has got to be the album of the year no matter what. Myrath, a progressive metal band from Tunisia is and will take the world by storm. They are the first band from Tunisia to receive a record contract, their new CD is being released in the US and Canada by Nightmare Records.

This second offering by Myrath, in my opinion is the album of the year for 2010, It is heavy, diverse and their use of middle eastern instrumentation is awesome. Their song writting ability is topnotch and the production by Kevin Codfert of Adagio is unsurpassed.

Myrath my be some of the new kids on the block but not for long, they are actually showing some of the old timer metal bands how its done. Go out buy this CD, give it a spin, you won’t be disappointed, it will leave you wanting more from these 5 guys from Tunisia.

  • I discovered this band because of the participation of French progressive metal band Adagio’s keyboardist Kevin Codfert, and was completely blown away: The quality of this album comes very close to that of the best progressive metal such as Dream Theater and Symphony X, but the originality of it’s sound is absolutely unmatched in the current sea of excellent, but mostly generic prog metal scene. I highly recommend this album, as well as the previous one “Hope”, and will be keeping an eye on this amazing band from Tunisia! Check out the samplers here and on Youtube and judge for yourself…
