LIVE IN HOUSTON 1981: THE ESCAPE TOUR is a wonderful document of a single concert on Journey’s tour in support of their 1981 album ESCAPE, and it’s great to have the concert available on CD, as the album and its ensuing tour were Journey’s best sellers both in terms of album sales and concert tickets. The previously-recorded live album, CAPTURED, featured Gregg Rolie, whereas this one features Jonathan Cain on keyboards. It has been said that the band’s manager, Herbie Herbert, didn’t really like Cain, but that’s irrelevant, as Cain brought more of a pop feel to the band. This is a CD that anyone who’s even remotely interested in Journey should own.
