All my buddies back in high school used to complain that all the singers in metal bands sounded too much like Robert Plant. They REALLY ragged on GW for being Zep [copies]. OK, maybe Jack Russell sounds kinda like Robert Plant, but so what? This is a great record. “Lady Red Light” kicks off the record with a killer riff that sets the tone for the whole record. This is about the heaviest GW ever got. “Rock Me” is, of course, the centerpiece of this disc, but there are certainly other standout tunes, too.
Remastered Reissue. Contains Sleevenotes & High Quality Booklet.

I never listend to Great White before but my dad said he liked them so I knew if he did then I knew I would too, and I was right. This cd is totally awesome and my favorite song on here might just be ‘Lady Red Light’. This rocks all the way through and I’m planing on getting other Great White cds, my next one will probaly be Twice Shy because I heard that song on VH1 Classic and it’s really good. GO OUT AND GET THIS CD!!!
The best Great White mass marketed album. A “Tour de Force”, start to finish. From the unbelievable opening M.K. guitar riff to the closing: this is an inspired and unforgettable work.Great White stands on their own material high above any record company expectations. Mr. Russell, his voice, talent, and “desires”, have outlasted them all. Comparisons do not apply.Buy this album…Rock destination reached.
Purchased the cassette back in 1987 when it came out (longbefore I got by first CD player in ‘89) — got the CDthen and after over 100 plays I still never get tired of it.”Rock Me” is both a musically technical gem in addition tobeing a great rock/blues song. “Save Your Love” is my favoriteall-time rock ballad especially since it captures JackRussell’s unbelievable vocal range.”Mistreater” is an in-your-face grinder with a good emphasison the bass. “On the Edge” just makes me want to go bungeejumping for the 50th time — gets the adrenaline going.”Lady Red Light”, “All Over Now”, and “Never Change Heart”capture what blue collar straight rock and roll is all aboutwithout the lipstick and glam.”Fast Road” is a fast rock jam that new rock bandsshould learn and practice with just because it is soclassically rock. There is NO filler material on this album. Each song isexplosive yet unique and will be appreciated by all wholove good old fashioned rock and roll!
When I first heard “Rock Me” back in 1987, I knew that Great White stood above the rest.I went out and bought “Once Bitten” and after hearing it, I promptly began buying every bit of GW music I could find. This album sets the standard for blues based rock. If you don’t own this disc, drop what you are doing and buy it now!! Mark Kendall’s guitar work is a perfect mix of Jimmi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and his own original style. And what can you say about Jack Russell’s voice? He is the man! A great album from a great band!!
