  • And YES, it even rivals Maiden’s “Live After Death”!

This live album captures Y&T at their absolute best… the energy just can’t be topped. For years it wasn’t available on CD, so for years I attempted to search peer to peer networks in hopes that someone would have converted their LP or tape to mp3, only to come up empty. So when this was FINALLY released, they could have been charging FIFTY bucks for it and I would still have bought it. It’s that good. Simply put, if you are a Y&T fan or even just a fan of 80’s metal, you need to buy this CD!

  • Just a quick note, this version does not contain live versions of “Summertime Girls” and “Black Tiger” as indicated. However, it does feature the alternate “flames” cover. So my review would be 5 out of 5 if the track listing was complete.

  • I have “Open Fire” on cassette. The CD release last year thrilled me no end, as this is probably one of my favorite live albums. The title track opens the action, and tracks like “Go For The Throat,” “25 Hours A Day” and “Rescue Me” keep the excitement mounting.

“Barroom Boogie” is a great track. The studio recording was good, but I love it live. Adding “Black Tiger” to the CD is a great choice.

I can’t see how anyone — especially any Y&T junkie — would be disappointed with this. Five stars. No question.

  • Excellent live reproduction quality. This CD has the finest version of “I believe in you” ever played. The guitar work is fantastic.

  • I thought this album would never make it to CD, but I received it today and I’m very happy with it! I had the cassette version of Open Fire years ago and that tape unfortunately died a long time ago. I remembered the quality of the sound and performance of all of the live songs on this album so well that I could instantly tell them apart from other later live releases – and I was always disappointed in those releases because this album was so good. This new CD was all I hoped it would be: To my ear it sounds great! The mastering has great Y&T punch to it but isn’t overblown dynamically, and it’s a remarkably clear recording considering it was originally made over 20 years ago. It’s not perfect, but it’s very good. If you’re a fan of Y&T and especially of this album, definitely go for it!
