I was amazed at the viciousness of this album from the getgo of “Under a Darkening Sky”. All the lineup changes and also a bland album that was The Toxic Touch spelled a recipe for disaster. However, I was optimistic as I had heard some good things about this album. It turns out the sound is amazing, the World War I lyrics of the album are amazing (“Poison Fog” creates some amazing imagery!). The riffs and solos are amazing- the blast beats and tremolo picking that speaks of their more black metal past is back in full force which were sorely lacking on the last album. This is their best album since Ravenous! Can’t wait to see them play this stuff live. The Serpent King blew this one away with his flamethrower and into the barbed wire of Passendale!
