One day when I was at a local FYE, I happened to pick this up at random, without ever hearing The Faceless before, while I’ve heard OF them. I was impressed by the cover art, it made it look epic. But I figured looks can be deceiving, so I listened to some samples and thought I’d give the album a shot, so I bought it… Man, the samples hardly did it any justice. I was really impressed after my first listen. They put a few unexpected twists here and there that add onto the overall vibe and atmosphere of the album (such as “Shape Shifters,” something totally different for a tech-death album). My only beef with this album, however, is that it’s way too short, but it’s not enough for me to take off the 5th star. Other than that, it’s a very solid album, doesn’t get boring at all. This is an essential album for every tech-death metal collection, I recommend it for anyone looking for something new.
