Jackyl Biography - Jackyl Discography - All Heavy Metal Bands

By the Dawn of the 80’s, Uriah Heep were Considered to Be a Relic in the Hard Rock World and No was Surprised When They Disbanded after their Previous Poorly Received ”Conquest” Album. However, Everyone Listening Received an Unexpected Surprise When the Band Returned with a New Line-up and a Sleek Revamped Sound on 1982’s ”Abominog”. The Tone is Set by Opening Track, ”Too Scared to Run”, a Dynamic Rocker that Contrasts Its Furious Guitarladen Veses with a Harmony-drenched Chorus Worthy of Queen. Other Sharp Rockers in this Vein Include, ”Running all Night (With the Lion)” and ”Hot Persuasion”, a Lusty Metal Opus with Traces of USA Aor Giants, Foreigner. This Re-issue is Complemented with a Previously Unreleased Video Soundtrack of the Song,”Think it Over”, Tracks from the EP, ”Abominog Junior” and also Three Alternative Live Versions.

  • All the songs here are great Jackyl classics, but how this album can be called a “Best Of” is a joke. There’s more good stuff missing off this “Best Of” than is on it. Give this CD a miss unless you’ve never heard of Jackyl before and want an introduction – trouble is … this introduction will have you looking for the original albums and you’d be much better off going for them in the first place: might cost a few $’s more, but it’s worth it.

  • If your looking for a best of I suggest find Choice Cuts! Not only does it have better songs but includes two covers Were an American band/I am the walrus, but some of the tracks are live and you get more of a feel of how Jackyl was a contuance of the great dirty rock bands like Aerosmith, AC/DC, Van Halen and countless others that seeing live gave you the best objective of who and how the band really is! Another great album to get with choice cuts is Staying alive wich has covers of Aerosmith, AC/DC, and Lynard Skynard! The lumberjack is probably their worst song and is always the first song everyone plays, don’t be narrow minded or just listen to your radio, listen to some of the other stuff (staying alive 5 stars)! Jackyl Rocks!

  • Jackyl is one of those straight-up heavy rock bands. If you like AC/DC you will love these guys.

  • This band was never really given its due. This CD rocks from beginning to end. Its like a poor mans AC/DC.

  • You’ve got to be kidding when “Locked & loaded”, “Mental Mastabation”,”Dixeland” and countless others are missing from a so-called “Best Of” buy the albums on there own or one of the better greatest hits previously available.
