If you are looking for an album of Bon Jovi covering their own songs in a soft rock style, then this is for you. If you want a compilation of the songs that made them famous as you remember them, the look elsewhere. At the risk of being overly negative, this album starts off bad and gets progressively worse…if I can stomach listening to it a few more times, it might grow on me, but that is a big IF!
Bon Jovi Biography - Bon Jovi Discography - All Heavy Metal Bands
Description
Though at first glance a third Queen hits collection might seem to stretch the bounds of credibility, upon reflection this collection may well be the most revealing and compelling of the lot. Gathered from disparate late-career band and solo projects as well as Freddie Mercury tributes with guest vocalists filling the shoes of the band’s late singer (Elton John dramatically on ”The Show Must Go On,” George Michael playfully over-the-top on ”Somebody to Love”), it’s a collection that coalesces into a thematically and musically satisfying whole. Though oft criticized for their unapologetic excesses, Queen’s brash infusion of rock and blues with operatic drama and scale (deliciously exemplified here by ”Barcelona,” Mercury’s duet with diva Montserrat Caballe) was unique. III isn’t so much a collection of hits as a well-paced, lovingly compiled homage to Freddie Mercury and his distinctly arch artistic vision. –Jerry McCulley

Terrible versions.
Not because they are ballads.
Just because they’re BAD.
There are good and bad ballads, these are the worst kind.

Do youreself a favor and preview these re-issued titles prior to buying the sacd. In my opinion if Bon Jovi released these sorry revisions in the eighties instead of thier originals they very likely would be flipping burgers today.

For most people the first time they listen to this cd, they are in shock. It is a great departure from Bon Jovi’s usual sound. In every album they have made they have grown in expression and dimension. This album is an even greater growth. Yes, the sound is different, and it takes a little getting used to, but if you really listen to the songs and the way the band portrays them, they are wonderful. They have taken their music and creativity to an all new level. As an avid fan club member, I was even shocked and almost apalled the first time I heard the cd, but then I realized this was not meant to replace the music we all love, but to expand on it and look at it in a broader spectrum.

Wish I had looked into this CD more before buying it. I found myself skipping each track as they had ruined each song… And before I knew it, the CD was done.
