Tunnel Biography - Tunnel Discography - All Heavy Metal Bands

Tunnel is Rock Music for People Who Like Rock Music! Dave Henzerling (King Kobra, Keel, Big Cock, Lizzy Borden) met vocalist Scott Hammons in late 2008 while they were both playing shows with the band Icon. In early 2009, they got together to work on new material for an as-yet-unnamed project and the chemistry just clicked. Dave had already laid down basic tracks with Los Angeles drummer Ryan Hoyle (Collective Soul) and together with Scott on lead vocals, they completed a collection of eight songs by the end of the hot Arizona summer. Produced by Dave Henzerling, Tunnel also enlisted world-renown background singer Marc LaFrance (Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Bryan Adams) as well as Steve Ouimette (Guitar Hero III, Rock Revolution) for help with one of the song’s orchestral arrangements. The CD was mixed by Chuck Alkazian (Pop Evil, Saving Abel) at Pearl Sound Studios in Canton, MI and mastered by Justin Shturtz at Sterling Sound in New York.

  • David Henzerling is the founding guitarist of the iconic 80’s hair metal act “King Kobra” and one of the first to completely embrace the glam/hair image during the mid 80s. Since then David has formed the successful “Big Cock” as well as a brand new project simply titled “Tunnel”.

On this release he teams up with lead singer Scott Hammonds while David contributes the guitars, bass and overall arrangements (drum recording are contributed by Ryan Hoyle). Recorded in the summer of 2009, the album has a very classic American rock sound to it, obviously incorporating the glam rock elements that define David’s previous works. In terms of sound, if I had to compare it with a recent release, that would be “Chickenfoot”, only “Tunnel” has more Bad-boy attitude to it.

I fell like shouting out that “Tunnel” also includes a potential rock hit which deserves serious airplay on rock stations and rock/metal clubs; that is “American Metal”. Other favourite tracks include the opener “Sound of thunder” a serious macho rock track with an infectious chorus plus the closing track “Garden of your earthly delights”.

One has to comment that the album is somewhat short, featuring 8 tracks in total without any particularly lengthy tracks (of course when an album is so good you can hardly have enough of it!). “Tunnel” is a very strong and honest rocker which will most likely satisfy any fan of poser rock, glam metal or classic rock, also offering a potential radio hit.

David Henzerling is also part of the reformed “King Kobra” which will hopefully tour and produce a new album within 2010.
