FACTMAG : http://www.factmag.com/2012/10/02/blackest-ever-blacks-raime-announce-debut-lp-quarter-turns-over-a-living-line/ Following portents back in summer, full details have emerged of the debut LP from koanlike Hackney double act Raime. Joe Andrews and Tom Halstead have proved dab hands at synthesising forty years of British outsider music. Late 1970s industrial, classic goth, breakbeat and techno are all constituent elements of their stern, stately musical aesthetic. They've definitely strayed from the beaten path trodden by most rising electronic units, stitching together ambitious sound-art pieces (last year's The Three Chambers Of Our Entities/Living In The Gaps We Cannot Jump) and exploratory sort-of-mixtapes (2010′s You Can't Hide Your Headcrack). Following on from their self-titled 2010 EP and a pair of carefully calibrated 12″s, Raime will release their first full-length in November on regular home Blackest Ever Black (full disclosure: a label independently operated by FACT staff member Kiran Sande). Quarter Turns Over A Living Line will feature seven new tracks, and will arrive on double LP, CD and digital formats. The album promises to represent a step away from their earlier sample-orientated material, with live instrumentation and ad hoc processing featuring heavily. Quarter Turns Over A Living Line also has the honour of being the first new artist LP issued on Blackest Ever Black, who have previously turned out short-form releases from the likes of Regis and Cut Hands. Album track 'Soil And Colts' is available to stream below, and it's a forbidding introduction, characterised by foundry percussion and mangled orchestration. The cover art, produced by the band in association with photographer William Oliver, is also included below, as is the album tracklisting and the Raime's forthcoming European tour dates. Quarter Turns Over A Living Line will drop on November 19.
