Am I the only person who absolutely loves this stuff…?

      2. sydbarrett5 at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

This still sounds to me like it’s from another planet.

      3. potentialcarnie at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

On the original vinyl release, timings for sides 1-3 were stated as “16:01″, while the 4th side read “16:01 or ∞”, as the last groove on the LP was a continuous loop. On CD, this locked groove was imitated for the final 2:22 of the track, fading out at the end.

You must have the original LP!!!!

Don’t know where you got your numbers from. Just looked at my album (vinyl). All four sides say 16:01, except the fourth which says 16:01 or infinity (sideways 8).

It’s a nice refreshing song, perfect for the first dance at a wedding.

      7. akasnowmaaan at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

What’s really bizarre is this is the only Lou Reed song I’ve ever liked.

      8. akasnowmaaan at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

Michaelas11 you are completely wrong about quantum mechanics. Most other people are too, they just don’t go around telling trying to tell everyone they’re right.

      9. balsk at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

he just experimented in concrete electronic music like most of the artists did in that period (beatles white album, the beach boys music for pets)…Maybe he changed his mind about this particular album..
by the way this remained in music history.

      10. scannerzfromhell at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

        This is beautiful music.

      11. tony0000 at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

if you look on the album, the side length is listed as “24:31 or infinity.” (I just guessed at the 24:31 because I’m too lazy to grab the album.)

        My week beats your year!

      12. Coyoteboy12 at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

yeah man. Sound track to a death dream

      13. SpamNapkin at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

that would be the funniest thing ever

      14. SpamNapkin at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

I knew Lou Reed was kind of messed up in the head but…holy shit.

      15. BrainSpecialist at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

I love this, it’s like ambience for the psychotic.

      16. Coyoteboy12 at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

No really. I have an track tape of MMM. I don’t have anything to listen to it on but I wouldn’t anyway since my copy is still sealed. It’s one of my prized possessions. When I do listen to MMM I listen on cd. I have always liked this record, regardless why he made it. I think it’s great fun.

      17. BrainSpecialist at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

        Surely you can’t be serious.

      18. BazzTheBoss at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

yeah that’s what he’s good at i have heard

      19. zardozman7 at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

I made a video of the “locked groove” above.
check it out if you get a chance.

      20. nizxbit at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

Best bit is the locked groove at the end so it never stops! I once terrorised my ex work collegues with it….they deserved it.Troglodytes!

      21. bassist4141 at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

it’s not bad it’s not good it’s horrible

      22. zardozman7 at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

It helps the plants grow… thorns and thistles.

      23. glimmer2158 at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

I can’t believe that RCA put this record out.

      24. LazyNutcracker at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

it’s like 2 trains driving with violin at backwards

      25. trackersnipperdoodle at 13 Jan 09 at 9:18 pm

I actually bought this when it came out. My buds n me kept moving the needle on the phono around trying to find the song. Even tried playing it backwards. Eventualy we made a toast and threw this pos in the fireplace and it did make a pretty fire.
I found out later that Reed had to fulfill a contract that he was trying to get out of. It called for two albums worth of material. It was a big middle finger salute to everyone’s expectations.
