Christians: What Do You Think Of Black Death Metal Music Which Makes Reference To Satan?

I love metal right and sometimes in the really heavy death metal references are made to Satan, evil, etc. And one song by Barathrum is Saatana and part of the lyrics are:
Vomit, blood and semen
Headbanging metal men
Gloomy, dark and dim
Ready for the sin
Wearing inverted crucifixes
Wearing inverted pentagrams
Tattooed marks of the beast
Six hundred and sixty six
Does this at all offend you and your beliefs? Obviously you may not find it pleasant but just what do you think of music like this? Is it sinful?

    Dude, those lyrics are BRUTAL!
    Awesome.

  2. luke6668 says:

I listen to heavy metal, and lyrics such as these are just the musical equivalent of crappy B grade horror movies, not offensive at all, I prefer lyrics that mean something though, but as with most death and black metal that I listen to, I can’t hear a word they’re saying, so it makes no difference in that case.

  3. JP says:

I’ve been in the music industry, and most do this all for money, without any beliefs backing up their “image”. It doesn’t bother me, because the music is as false as the people. Their just talented musicians trying to make money. Music in many forms can be very beautiful, unless it’s musically incorrect or off-key I’m sure it’s nice, and I’m sure very difficult to play.

  4. matthaum says:

I think it’s funny. I’m not Christian, but my interpretation of what “satan” is has nothing to do with beasts, pentagrams, or anything like that.
Religion is spiritual not literal as what Black and Death Metal artist portray their art as. It’s just entertainment that means nothing.

  5. cαη∂y AKA Mrs.Chris $$$ says:

Yes, I believe it is sinful. It makes me think of, wow, death. *duh*. I just don’t listen to it. It does offend me, but I think that the people that listen to it are hopeless. If they had the hope within them that I have within me, they would not want to be around that kind of music. People who listen to this are trapped by Satan and the only way they can be free is through Jesus Christ.

  6. D-Rock says:

It is mis-guided, certainly does not edify, and is an utter and complete waste of time with no redeeming qualities. Christ most certainly is not honored or glorified by this kind of garbage. What’s sad is that people listen to it and get caught up in it.

  7. Need of Some Help says:

I’m not offended by this. Music is just another form of art. I listen to metal and I just listen to it. I don’t praise it. I don’t have it control my religious preference.

  8. Austen says:

I don’t like that kind of music. Not because of the statements they make. I’m just more of a Hop Hop person.
But it’s art. Music. Religion’s attempt to limit or stop this is terrible.

  9. I am says:

    Not pleasant.
    Not offensive.

  10. batgirl2 says:

It doesn’t bother me at all. I just don’t listen.
Of course I do not find it offensive.
Live and let live; to each his/her own.

  11. Cheri 1 says:

That is not lyrics – it is scrap, how can it mean anything meaningful to anyone

  12. Icebeam says:

    SATAN is evil!! TURN away…
    LOOK to the TRINITY!
    God Bless.

  13. gertysto says:

    I avoid ‘it’, thanks.

  14. Brecc says:

    I’m not offended by it.
Metal just isn’t my cup of tea.

  15. Aiden (a girl) says:

I’m Christian, but not a very strong one. It’s nothing to be offended by, really. It seems like those people who claim it’s “evil” are just trying to get free PUBLICITY. The lyrics don’t mean anything… I’m more into metalcore, and metal.

  16. azoth nahash agathodemon sophian gnostic ophite says:

here are lyrics for a black metal band:
It was in this haunted place under a moonless cloak of ebony
I was drawn to the glow of a young spiritess weeping in the woods

The blackest ravens and ice-veiled boughs
Have spoken of you, goddess of these bleak woods
I yearn for your embrace, spiritess of the melancholia
Show me, again, your sweet face
Enchant me with your rich, cinder burnt ether
Lure me into your arms and bless unto me eternal death

She had spoken to the dawn
Her words wisped in tongues of the wind

    And then silence…
    Pale clouds betrothed the dawn
    Black rain fell
    The birds wore masks

The haunting stain of her woe
Had burned itself into the oak
    Night had gone
Bereaved, I was torn for her

One last time I witnessed her beauty in the distance
The arms of the trees tore at her morbid gown swaying in the loathsome winter
    breeze
    She faded before my eyes
Since that day a thousand veiled birds have taken flight
And the melancholy rain still pours forever on…
… here is one for death metal:

As ashes slowly fall I turn to heed my inner call
To feel the gap within my soul
I must find the one inside the whole
Flawless belief, is what my eyes see
A shining figure here before me
A divine idol we all plead to
I’m down on my knees I worship you with owe
I’m down on my knees my belief forever strong
And I call out to you my lord of light
Watch my faith how it glows
    God await that I know
My praise for him I shall bestow…
And sing it, praise you lord, he is the lord
In all pas centuries I’ve lived
False believers lived in eternal lie

We live our life – amen
    Giving love to the end
    Shadows rise and fall
    At God’s divine call
    The answer to my pleas
    Let all madness cease
    This will be done
… and this is not your new christian metalcore kids, this bands are true metal, that is for the thinking man, all true metal has great lyrics, poetry and intellectual concepts… you ignorant fucks don´t even know what true metal is.

  17. henry says:

It does bug me but everyone goes to heaven or hell by their own hands and if they want eternal death then go for, im not gonna be involved with 666 and other crap

  18. leba95 says:

i am a Catholic and personaly i LOVE this Music, but unfortunaly i do have some very religious family members who absolutely HATE it but thts just them…i think they would find it offensive but i dnt think its very sinful singin those lyrics (and im knowlegable of the Bible) actually doin those acts are sinful but i love ‘em :)

  19. wrong. says:

Well I listen to the heaviest of music, but I say my prayers every night. This type of music has no control over me. It just appeals to my musical taste. At first I hated it, but over time I learned to deal with screaming and growling and now I love it. I go to church every Sunday as well. SO NO. It has no control over you if you have an ounce of common sense and willpower. Honestly it takes talent to scream. Listen to a song like Abrogations crown or Entombed Monarch and just “try” to imitate it, vocally or instrumentally. See for yourselves that they have just as much if not more talent than any other artists out there.
