Dimmu Borgir Biography
Probably Norways most known metal band along with Mayhem, Dimmu Borgir have established a name for them selves throughout the world. Starting out in 1992 as teenagers, the band has gone through several line-up changes and changes of style, but the success has always been a part of them.In 1992 came the debut titled For All Tid signed at No Colour Records. This album showed that the youngsters were highly skilled in what they were doing, and that they was serious about it. The amazing thing is that Silenoz (guitars, and at that point vocals) and Shagrath (now vocals, synth at that point) were only 15 and 16 years old! The sound was not too much to brag about, but for instance, the song Stien, proved their abilities to write exellent black metal. In 1995 came the album Stormblåst which is a true classic in many black metal hearts. The lyrics were still written in Norwegian, and therefore they decided to reach out for a wider audience when Enthrone Darkness Triumphant was released in 1997.Songs such as Mourning Palace, Spellbound by The Devil and In Death's Embrace are fantastic songs, and showing the band from a much more mature side. Since then the band has not looked back, and when Spiritual Black Dimensions was released in 1999, they brought a much more extreme, but yet melodic vision. The only fault in my opinion, what that the sound did not match the music. Anyhow, the album was a true masterpiece. And in 2001, the band was ready to conquer the world yet again. Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia was the title, and once again, they had renewed and improved!Voted album of the year in numberless radiostations and magazines the world lay at their feet. They have just recently released a live dvd and a mini-live album. The band is currently working on new material for the new album.
