HammerFall Biography
These Swedes started out in 1996, where singer Joachim Cans and lead guitarist Oscar Dronjak were the frontiers. They based their music from the heritage of bands as Helloween, Gamma Ray, Judas Priest and Manowar. Which indicates heavy and fast riffs, great melodies and double bassdrums. Their debut album, Glory To The Brave, was released in 1997, and became an instant hit. They won the Swedish grammy for best metal, and sold more than 100, 000 copies world wide. This was considered quite a sensation, and they were rapidly piced up by the major record label Nuclear Blast.In 1998 came the follow up, titled Legacy of Kings, an album showing the band from a more professional side, with a remarkable sound and quality improvement. Especially the single, Heeding The Call became a triumph for the band. Then after series of worldtours and sold out gigs, the band released a video and dvd, titled The Templars Crusade.In 2000 came their third studio album, Renegade, and it was now the whole thing really set off for them. They got a lot more coverage in the world wide press, being album of the month in severeal magazines. The band is currently working on their new release, which will be out in December 2002.
