How Can I Learn To Sing Alternative/metal. And Singing In General.?
Ok my friend is putting together a band. Now I am needing to learn to well sing. I am relatively sucky at singing, but I am trying to find a way to sing better. Is it true practice makes perfect, even in singing? I am trying to learn how to scream. I am trying to get good by at least March, I want to surprise everyone, by the fact that I can (well will) be able to sing. I just need some advice on how to get my voice singing material.
You Practice each day with a 1 day break, observe the posture and technique of the pros, Stand when singing, open your mouth as if you have an egg placed in it. Relax your muscles(The only muscle that should be working is your DIAPHRAGM), Feel the lyrics of the song as an actress would, sing songs in your key and range, drink a little honey lemon warm water before singing.
For Hitting High Notes: Raise Your Arms and Smile Slightly
For Hitting Low Notes: Raise your head so the sound can resonate
For Hitting High Notes: Lower your head so the sound can resonate in your head
Relaxation: The only thing that should be tensed is your Diaphragm
Position: Stand tall with knees relaxed and make sure the larynx, jaw, tongue, and lips are all RELAXED
Health: Get lots of sleep 8+ hours a night, Drink plenty of water, do aerobics 2 times a week(Helps with stamina and holding notes longer)
Pronunciation: Shape the vowels with your mouth and use an open oval shape to sing at all times.
Look at the posture and techniques of the pros.
OK.. First of you should have a dedication for the singing. Sometimes only voice can’t make a good singer. You should take care of you posture and also sing with feeling to make people understand the song..
well, you want to sing alternative rock.
first off, drinking water will help A LOT.
i’m in a heavy metal/alternative rock band.
i write the music, the piano, and i’m the vocals.
so, what i do is sing everyday. it’s like second nature when you do it everyday for a long time. so i guess practice does make perfect.
i like to gargle water (hot or cold) before i sing, i see a difference, but if you prefer lemon then it’s all good, too.
uhm, like V.I.P said;
pronounciation is key. If they can’t hear or understand you then what’s the point, right?
vocal power- you got to sing loud, and when i mean loud i mean LOUD.
usually doing gradual stuff like do, re, mi, etc. warmups is good and get louder when you do it and higher too.
although, i’ve been in the band for a few years now..i’m still working on my scream. it might take a few for you also.
create a personel style- people like when singers are uniqe and sound different. They’ll be like, “omg, what a great voice. one that i’ve never heard before!”
cause you don’t want people saying how you sound like everyone else.
dedicate to singing- once you start singing, and sing everyday and get into it and the hang of it, you’ll feel yourself being pulled into the music you sing and that’s when artists really get good. so, don’t just do it because you want too. do it because you love it.
i hope i helped.
:]
this site is shit- allison ur a fuckhead
Drink plenty of water, it sooths your throught and it good for many things including heath. Um, practice standing with good posture and hold your head high a alternative is maybe bending forward slightly and rocking out with unique facial expressions. practice like you would school. five times a week and persumably after school , in the shower [ hot water opens the cheast ] , in the woods anywhere you find comfy. with higher notes open your mouth wider and with all notes P-R-O-N-O-U-N-C-E the words you might feel like a idiot but it helps. relax you jaw mouth tounge and throught. im not a pro but i hope i helped at all ;] good luck! x
