As I stated on my other list, this is just who I like. Not a matter of technical performance or record sales or popularity. These are just the vocalists that you will find on my MP3 Player and on the Flash Drives in my car. I enjoy all music and enjoy writing these heavy metal blogs, just some more then others. Now lets rock this list!
#20 – Rob Halford – Although you will find Rob at the top of most people’s Metal lists I’m not that huge of a Priest fan and never really got into his solo stuff. Even though he is the acclaimed Metal God I’m just giving him some respect for what he’s done and the Priest songs I like.
#19 – Dee Snider – Dee was a lot higher when I started thinking about this list for everything he did for Metal and all the great stuff he said to Tipper Gore back in the day, but then two things happened: Gone Country and the new Twisted song 30. I struggle with Metal musicians doing the crossover. I love the guy and his antics, but he dropped off in my play list during recent times.
#18 – Gene Simmons – Gene will never be known for his vocals, but he has done some classic KISS tunes that we all sing pretty much everyday. His voice is unique and exactly what is needed to offset the high octave of Stanley. Domino and I Love it Loud are two of my favorite KISS songs; both are Gene songs. Gene might not be the professional trained voice of Paul, but his roughness only adds to the Demon and KISS.
#17 – Sebastian Bach – Much like Dee Snider a few years ago Sebastian would have been near the top of my list, but along came his departure from Skid Row and once again that damn Gone Country show. I love the screaming deep vocals of Sebastian on Monkey Business and Slave to the Grind, but not much since then has tickled my fancy. In the next couple of years Sebastian could go either way on my list. If he reunites with Row then he will shoot up drastically, if he produces this album that is half country he will fall down around the number that Stompin’ Tom would be at.
#16 – Bon Scott – A legend. An actual legend that we can say died to young and would have gone on to great things. When musicians die I find people blow their ability out of proportion that is not the case with Bon. He was the voice of true AC/DC classics like TNT and Jailbreak. Bon would be higher on my list, but I was quite young and never got to really appreciate Scott and the energy he brought to AC/DC. He is missed by his fans and band mates.
In the next blog numbers 15 to 11 will be revealed.

As I stated on my other heavy metal blog list, this is just who I like. Not a matter of technical performance or record sales or popularity. These are just the vocalists that you will find on my MP3 Player and on the Flash Drives in my car. I enjoy all music, just some more then others. Now lets end this list!
#5 – Brian Johnson – Obviously you can’t think of Brian Johnson’s music without AC/DC coming up. You know what, that’s fine with me. After the passing of Bon I don’t think anyone thought that voice could be filled, but Brian has done that with dignity and respect to the band. The new generation doesn’t really know that there was a different voice at the mic of AC/DC that has to say something about the talent of this man. Brian is so high on the list because of the amazing catalogue of music that he will forever be known for.
#4 – James Hetfield – Not the James Hetfield from the documentary “Some Kind of Monster”, but the James Hetfield us metal heads know and love from “Kill Em All”. James has an amazing voice that compliments not only his own guitar playing but also that of fellow shredder Kirk Hammett. Metallica is the band that all others strive to be and that is in a big part because of the vocals of their main man. Metallica is Metallica and I love it. Growl you bastard growl.
#3 – Vince Neil – This is very shocking to some reading this site including my wife because I am a huge Motley Crue fan, but the fact is I’m a Motley Crue fan, not really a massive Vince Neil fan. Vince needs Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, and Tommy Lee to be complete. That has been proven time and time again with his sub par solo career, but with that being said no one else could sing the songs I love like Vince (the John Corabi experiment), so that puts him at number 3. I think my wife puts him at #1 for other reasons, but this is vocals not?
#2 – Bruce Dickenson – When you talk about Heavy Metal Music can you possibly have a conversation without this man. Bruce’s music speaks for itself. I’m not a fan of the best Iron Maiden front man argument simply because there really is no other. Bruce is the standard which most singers gauge their performance. Seeing this man use that range live is something you will never forget. Eddie might be the Maiden mascot, but Bruce is the voice and always will be. SCREAM FOR ME WE LOVE METAL!
#1 – Ronnie James Dio – Believe it or not until a couple of years ago I really didn’t know that much about Dio, until Vince had me listen to Holy Diver. I was blown away that a Heavy Metal Musician could sound so dark and evil one moments and so operatic the next. I’m one of those people that will pick Dio over Ozzy in Sabbath (or Heaven and Hell) any day of the week. Heaven and Hell, Lady Evil, Mob Rules, incredible songs that need no justification. Not to mention the fact that he raised Rainbow to new heights with hits like “The Man on Silver Mountain” and his solo career was off the charts. Dio is the voice of Heavy Metal and the image that will keep it strong into the future. If you think he’s getting old check out the new H&H album and you be the judge. SHOW ME THE HORNS DIO!
That’s the end, do your worst!

Can you imagine life without music? It?s very difficult to imagine no doubt, but one thing is certain, life would have been dull and boring had it not been for music. In fact you can never come across a person who says that they have never hummed a tune in their life or that they do not love music. Well everyone cannot become great singer, but we all exercise our vocals in the privacy of our bathrooms. If anyone says that they do not sing in the shower, chances are likely that are they are lying. Heavy metal music is a genre of music that evolved in the late 60s and early 70s. Heavy metal music is also referred to as metal music, and this music reached the zenith of its popularity in the 80s and many subgenres of music evolved from heavy metal music. The sounds associated with heavy metal music consisted of heavy guitar and drum centered sound with highly amplified distortion of fast guitar.
Devoted fans of heavy metal music are referred to as headbangers and metalheads world wide. Heavy metal music is characterized by loud distorted guitar sounds, dense drum and bass sound, emphatic rhythm combined with vigorous vocals. A typical heavy metal music band consists of a bassist, a rhythm guitarist, a drummer, a lead guitarist and a lead singer or vocalist. The vocalist may or may not play an instrument. Today heavy metal music has a variety of styles namely power metal; progressive metal and symphonic metal and most of the present day bands often make sure of the electronic keyboard. The heavy volume used in heavy metal music is a vital element of attraction towards the music for fans, especially for live performances. Most popular theme for songs of heavy metal music is violence, fantasy, sex and the occult.
Physical gestures are a vital part of heavy metal music and this is very much evident during live performances. Moshing, headbanging, hand gestures like devil horns, stage diving, air guitar and crowd surfing are very popular among singers and fans of heavy metal music. If you are thinking that heavy metal music is just a form of entertainment, then think again. Researchers have recently found out that heavy metal music can be a great source of comfort to teenage children. The study has found out that teenagers who regularly listen to heavy metal music cope better with pressures as compared to their peers. So now if you find out that your teenage child is hooked to heavy metal music you can just simply rest easy.
Heavy metal music has several subgenres. Underground metal is one of the broad categories of heavy metal music and there are five categories under this namely: death metal, trash metal, black metal, doom metal, gothic metal, power metal and trash metal. The sound that was developed by trash musicians was mush faster and aggressive then the original heavy metal music. Some of the popular heavy metal musicians and bands are Guns N Roses, Iron Maiden, Poison, Bon Jovi, Ozzy Osbourne and Deff Leppard.

I already asked this question a week ago, recieving some good bands, while some aren’t what I was looking for. I am looking for bands that can play instruments, quite loudly, no screaming (maybe a little if required), and have a sleek feel. I like these heavy metal bands: Pantera, Slipknot, Metallica, Motley Crue and Korn. Anything similar to these would be adequate. Thanks.
