What Would Be An Easy Metal Song For My Band To Start Off On?

We already know the song aerials but we are looking for another song to play in our schools talent show. Any suggestions?

A few great places to start would be System of a Down, Deftones, Korn (if you consider them metal), Limp Bizkit (I like stuff from their first album, ie Counterfeit), and Fear Factory.
Black Sabbath is a great example of an early hard rock/heavy metal band that had relatively simple blues-based riffs but still rocked pretty hard. Some of Ozzy’s later stuff was pretty good, too.
I guess some of my suggestions would be
System of a Down – anything from the Toxicity Album, Spiders, Sugar
Deftones – Passenger (if you can sing it!), Hexagram, My Own Summer (Shove It), Bored
[ a lot of Deftones and System of a Down songs have pretty simple riffs but still sound good ]
Korn – Blind, No Place to Hide, Shoots and Ladders (umm I guess you need a bagpipe tho, *grin*), Y’All Want a Single (probably not appropriate for a school talent show, though *chuckle* )
Slipknot – Wait and Bleed, Sic
[ I don't care what you think, Slipknot's first album was pretty sweet ]
If you would consider Godsmack, then Moonbaby and I Stand Alone are pretty sweet.
Fear Factory – Edgecrusher, Resurrection, anything from Obsolete, once Dino Cazares left the riffs got a lot simpler, though, so stuff after Digimortal ie Archetype etc (the stuff I don’t listen to)
early Metallica rules, but its not necessarily easy to play, certainly not as simple as Aerials.
Hmmm. Helmet is pretty simple stuff that really grooves hard. You may not be into them, though. Anything from the first two Rage Against the Machine albums.
You’ve probably gathered that I haven’t included a lot of modern metal stuff… part of it is that a lot of the newer metal *isn’t easy*.
Oh yeah.. how could I possibly forget Pantera? Some of it isn’t too crazy difficult, except for maybe the soloing. You’ll want to get that stuff right, though, people will know if you get it wrong….
Hatebreed is another good hardcore band that rocks pretty hard, and the riffs aren’t insanely difficult.
YouTube any of these bands if you haven’t heard them or want to find something you may not be familiar with but still would complement your band’s sound.

easy and metal don’t go in the same sentence . .
    Forced Indigestion by Abigail Williams
Too Late for Roses – August Burns Red
Speech Impediment – August Burns Red
The Show Must Go On – Drop Dead, Gorgeous
New Friend Request – Evergreen Terrace
    Chic’N'Stu – System of A Down
Sugar – System of A Down

Death in Fire by Amon Amarth, very brutal but quite simple to play, lost of straight double bass though, make sure your drummer can last a while

  4. elizabet says:

of wolf and man – metallica
    or
through the fire and flames – dragonforce

Emm elizabeth, when he asked for an easy metal band he wasnt referring to speed metal or shit metal aka Dragonforce. Metallica is alright to start with its not too fast, nothing else matters is definitely a good song to start with

if you really want to play a good metal song, and you have a keyboardist, (which isn’t required, but is much better to have one) play some Asking Alexandria. Drop D tuning, very easy riffs, not many riffs, lot’s of chugging and breakdowns. Very easy, brutal, very very very brutal without a doubt. only difficult part of the songs would be some timing on certain breakdowns. Besides that. PIE! :) <3 for Asking Alexandria
